Gender Inequality
To what extent does gender inequality affect a woman?
The unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender is what gender inequality is all about. To be put in simpler words, it's just differentiating people based on whether they're a woman or man. Why does gender inequality exist? The root cause of gender inequality is the role and place which society assigns to women. It isn't because of social class, but of culture. When religious freedom is attacked, women suffer a lot. More religious freedom leads to a stable economy with the help of women. Let's talk about facts, in the whole world, there are only 6 countries that give women the same legal work rights as men. Most countries only give women 3/4 the rights of men. Many women don't have authority over their own body and accessing birth control is hard, most women don't take birth control even when it's available because of religious opposition. Poor medical care, men receive higher quality medical care than women.
How does this affect a woman? From the given examples it's obvious how this would mentally and physically strain women. First of all, medical care, this doesn't apply to most big cities, but in rural areas or in underdeveloped nations, medical care for women is of lower quality than of men, this would affect a woman's physical health and her mental health because she's given lesser care than a man. Now let's talk about religious freedom, some countries are led by groups of people who believe that women shouldn't be educated as well as a man because they assume women are weaker. Women with hopes of achieving their goals would be shattered, their own nation is restricting them from learning more and helping themselves grow. I could go on and on.
I'd like to conclude by asking, what do we get out of gender inequality? Why are women put under mental harm? Why are women considered to be weaker? Why do nations prevent education of women? What to people achieve by making a woman feel inferior to a man? And lastly, a woman can achieve as much as a man can, even more, but they aren't allowed to, how can we overcome the idea of women not being able to achieve as much as men?
